Police Dismiss False Reports of IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno’s Death

The Ghana Police Service has firmly denied viral rumours claiming that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has died, describing the reports as entirely untrue.

In a statement released on Sunday, November 30, and shared on the Service’s official X (formerly Twitter) platform, the police said it had taken note of widespread speculation circulating across social media suggesting that the IGP had passed away.

The Service clarified that the IGP is alive, healthy, and performing his official duties without interruption. It urged the general public, officers of the Service, and the IGP’s family to completely disregard the false claims.

“The Inspector-General of Police is alive and in good health. The reports are false and should be ignored,” the statement emphasised.

The police also condemned the creators and disseminators of the rumour, describing their actions as malicious, reckless, and dangerous to public peace.

It further warned that disinformation is a criminal offence, noting that anyone found responsible for initiating or spreading the false report will face the full rigours of the law.

The Service encouraged the public to rely on official communication channels for accurate information concerning national security matters and discouraged the spread of unverified content online.
