Ghana’s Black Princesses will embark on an exciting journey to Colombia today, Tuesday, August 13, as they prepare to compete in the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The highly anticipated tournament is set to kick off on August 31, bringing together some of the most talented young female footballers from around the globe.
Under the seasoned leadership of coach Yussif Basigi, the team has been rigorously training in Cape Coast since June 27. Their preparation has centred on tactical strategies, physical conditioning, and enhancing team chemistry. With a strong focus on these critical areas, the Black Princesses aim to make a significant impact on the world stage.
Ghana finds itself in Group E, where they will face formidable opponents like Austria, Japan and New Zealand.
The team is determined to overcome past challenges and advance beyond the group stage, a feat that has eluded them in previous World Cup appearances. This year’s tournament offers a fresh opportunity for the Black Princesses to showcase their skills and resilience.
The journey for the Black Princesses begins on September 2 at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in Bogota, where they will take on Austria. The team’s recent success at the 13th African Games, where they clinched gold by defeating Nigeria at the Cape Coast Stadium, adds to their confidence and momentum as they head to Colombia.
With a blend of experience and youthful exuberance, the Black Princesses are poised to make their mark in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
