Christian Atsu remembered at 46th CAF General Assembly

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee paid tribute to the late Christian Atsu throughout its General Assembly assembly in Ethiopia on October 22, 2024.
Atsu, a former Newcastle United participant, tragically handed away at age 31 after being discovered beneath the rubble of a devastating earthquake in Turkey in February 2023.
At the assembly, CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, alongside different members, expressed deep sorrow over his premature dying and lauded his important contributions to African soccer and humanitarian causes.
Atsu loved a distinguished profession, representing Ghana’s nationwide staff in main tournaments such because the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
He was notably named the Best Player of the 2015 AFCON.
Beyond his achievements within the subject, he was actively concerned in charitable work, notably supporting underprivileged kids in Ghana via organisations like Arms Around the Child.
The committee additionally recognised the widespread mourning following Atsu’s passing and noticed a second of silence in his reminiscence. They prolonged heartfelt condolences to his household and the broader soccer group, emphasising that his legacy in soccer and humanitarian efforts will endure.
