Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, an independent candidate representing the New Force in the 2024 general elections, has promised to establish state-of-the-art data centres in selected regions of Ghana, aimed at supporting crypto mining, coin minting, and asset tokenisation.
Cheddar believes that this initiative would strategically position Ghana as Africa’s gateway to the multi-trillion dollar cryptocurrency industry, which is rapidly growing worldwide.
He highlighted that the project would provide the necessary infrastructure to accommodate the rising demand in the sector.
Citing research from Africa Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), Cheddar revealed that the demand for data centres is projected to outstrip supply by 300% in the coming years.
He explained that building these centres would not only support the future of cloud computing in Ghana but also serve as a cornerstone for the country’s emerging technology hub.
Additionally, he pointed out that with over 85% of Ghana’s population under the age of 50, there is a need to create opportunities that leverage the youthful and dynamic workforce.
Cheddar’s vision is to transform Ghana into a software and technology hub capable of competing on the global stage.
“We are positioning ourselves at the forefront of global innovation, with a strategic focus on Web3, artificial intelligence, and blockchain technology,” Cheddar stated, expressing his ambition to lead the country into the next wave of technological advancements.
