Professor Jonathan Quartey donates medical items to WAFA SC

A physiotherapist with the University of Ghana, Legon, Professor Jonathan Quartey, has presented medical items to the West African Football Academy, Soccer Club (WAFA SC) to support and enhance the medical department’s rehabilitation process for players. 

The presentation was made possible by a German Physiotherapy firm, Kanzlsperger who are partner with Professor Quartey. 

Having worked at the medical department of WAFA SC in the past when it was named Gomoah Fete Feyernood, Professor Quartey wanted to give back to the academy. “There’s been a long standing relationship between myself and WAFA, I worked with them 11 years already before they moved to Sogakope,” Prof. Quartey said.

“We’ve been in touch in terms of providing human resource for their work over here, I found it prudent when I got this items to be able to give back to a company that I’ve a worked with for so long and an area that I’ve also worked and I’ve alot of passion.” Prof added. 

“And that is why I donate this things to help the boys as far as their rehabilitation is concern and any other medical problems this thing could actually help”. He added. 

Receiving the medical items on behalf of WAFA SC, Managing Director Mr. Yan Gôseng expressed his gratitude to Professor Quartey. 

 “We’re very grateful for the donations done by Prof. Quartey we have a long standing relationship with him, he was one of our officials, and he has been working with us, so we are very happy and grateful.” Yan Gôseng said.

First team coach of the academy, coach Sadiq Abubarkar expressed his gratitude to Prof. Quartey and his team for their kindness. 

 “We’re grateful to Mr. Quartey our former physiotherapist and WAFA is grateful for this items because they are expensive.” He said. 

The medical team, led by Ralph Gyamfi was excited about the donation, Mr. Gyamfi said the medical items will greatly benefit the rehabilitation process and enable the physios to better manage player injuries and minor knocks. 

“We are very happy to receive these items from Prof. Quartey and we know these items will come to help with our rehabilitation program and help with the performance of the players on the field.” Mr. Gyamfi said. 

Fadawu Ismailah, on behalf of the players, expressed his appreciation for the items.

“On behalf of the staff, the coaches and football players, we would like to say a very big thank you to Prof. Quartey and his team we appreciate everything they gave us,” Fadawu Ismailah said. 

The donated items include, Kinesiology tapes, Underwraps, Coban wraps, Ice bags, Medical Bags, and Skin patch, The rest are scissors, Leuko med, Insulation tapes, Healing ointments, and Leukotapes. 

WAFA SC, a former Ghana Premier League side, is currently competing in the Volta Regional Division Two League. The academy focuses on as a social business side of football and player development.
