Nora Hauptle has officially signed a two-year contract with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to lead the senior female national team, known as the Copper Queens. This appointment comes on the heels of her successful tenure with the Ghanaian national team, the Black Queens, where she made a notable impact in her brief time. Hauptle’s wealth of experience and proven track record promises to bring new energy and strategy to the Copper Queens as they prepare for upcoming international competitions.
Hauptle’s journey in women’s football took a pivotal turn when she was appointed head coach of the Black Queens in 2023. Under her guidance, the team achieved remarkable success, qualifying for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and clinching the 2023 WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup. Her ability to inspire and develop talent was evident, as she transformed the team into a formidable force on the continental stage. However, after her contract expired, Hauptle opted against renewing her agreement with the Ghana FA, setting the stage for her next challenge with the Copper Queens.
The decision to bring Hauptle on board reflects FAZ’s commitment to enhancing the performance of the Copper Queens, who have been striving to establish themselves as a powerhouse in women’s football. With Hauptle’s extensive background, including her previous role as a technical advisor for the Ghana U-20 national team during the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, her expertise is expected to be instrumental in developing the team’s strategies and skills. The Zambian football community is eager to see how her leadership will influence the team’s dynamics and performance.
Hauptle’s unveiling is slated for next week. The Copper Queens have been on a journey of growth and improvement, and the arrival of a coach with Hauptle’s credentials is seen as a turning point. As she steps into her new role, there is hope that she will not only elevate the team’s competitive edge but also inspire a new generation of female footballers in Zambia.
As the Copper Queens prepare for their upcoming matches, all eyes will be on Hauptle to see how she implements her vision and strategies. The Zambian women’s national team has the potential to make significant strides on the international stage, and with Hauptle at the helm, the future looks promising.
