In a show of appreciation, the Chief Executive of the Akrofuom District Assembly, Dr. Maurice Jonas Woode, honored all 17 Assembly members for their commitment and dedication to duty.

At a General Assembly meeting, the members, who served the Assembly between 2019 and 2023, received citations recognizing their contributions. These citations carried messages of encouragement and acknowledged their unwavering support for the Assembly’s mission.

The honored Assembly members included Edward Peprah, Douglas Fosu Mensah, Kofi Asare, Daniel Badu Avonyo, Isaac Amponsah, Matthew Baah, Shakibu Mustapha, Daniel Tetteh, Emmanuel Obeng, Richard Adade Boateng, Kingsley Obeng Nuamah, Agnes Afriyie, Peter Amponsah, Ernest Okyere Eyison, John Ampong, Nana Asare Bediako, and Nicholas Essandoh.

Dr. Woode emphasized the importance of recognizing the Assembly members’ selfless contributions, stating that their invaluable advice, guidance, and constructive criticisms had significantly contributed to the Assembly’s success.

Reflecting on his tenure, Dr. Woode highlighted several key achievements over the past six years. These included the construction of 14 new classroom blocks and the completion of five inherited school projects, which he identified as major milestones in the education sector. He also noted the construction of six CHPS compounds and health centers, which have improved access to quality healthcare in the district.

Additionally, the Assembly took the opportunity to support persons living with disabilities (PWDs) in the district. Items worth GH₵40,000 from the District Assemblies Common Fund were distributed. Eight individuals received deep freezers and spraying machines, while another eight were given educational support, and one person received medical assistance.

While presenting the items, Dr. Woode reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to consistency and transparency in the disbursement of the disability fund since he assumed office in 2018.

Abena Okyerewaa, chairperson of the Disability Association in Akrofuom, commended the DCE for prioritizing the interests of PWDs. She noted that members of the association had made productive use of their share of the fund, contributing positively to their livelihoods.
