After Donald Trump'requested' Oprah Winfrey to be his running mate in 2000, here is what she said.

Former President Donald Trump once published a book collecting private letters from important personalities, including one from Oprah Winfrey dating back to 2000.

This exchange provided light on an important time in their relationship, providing insight into the dynamics between two powerful personalities. Winfrey, a well-known media figure and philanthropist, wrote

Trump a letter in 2000 expressing camaraderie in a humorous tone after he considered her as a prospective vice president. She said, "Too bad we aren't running for office. "What a team!"

In an interview with CBS Mornings, Winfrey discussed the letter and its inclusion in Trump's book.

She recalled, "I think he'd written a book and said that he wanted me to be his running mate... if he decided to run."

When I learned that my letter will be published in a book, I thought, 'How good of me to write a note.' That's what I thought, because I'm constantly thinking, "Oh, I should write a note. "The person did this, or I should write a note," she explained. According to CBS News, "So I'm really happy that I wrote a note,"

Despite the playful banter in the letter and Trump’s expressed desire to have Winfrey as his running mate, Winfrey clarified that she would not consider such a partnership anytime soon. She exclaimed, "I might have thought it back then. I might have thought it 23 years ago. I'm not thinking it today."

According to The New York Post, Trump's book includes correspondence from many figures, including former President Bill Clinton, Princess Diana, Richard Nixon, Kim Jong Un, and others, in addition to Winfrey's words. The book provides readers with a rare peek into Trump's private dealings with important persons over the course of several decades.

Looking back, Trump's preference for Winfrey is clear from previous interactions and words. Despite their diverse origins and philosophies, Trump has previously praised Winfrey. In 1999, during an interview with Larry King about a potential independent presidential run, Trump mentioned Oprah. I adore Oprah. Oprah would always be my top choice. If she does it, she will be wonderful. I mean, she is popular, bright, and a beautiful woman. I mean, if she ever does it. I'm not sure she would ever do it. She has, you know. According to Time, she shares similarities with me.
