On December 24, 2023, Afua Asantewaa embarked on a mission to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon. She sang for 126 hours and 52 minutes. This made December in Ghana an exciting one because of the excitement it brought to the country. The number of Ghanaian celebrities who showed up to support her was the icing on the cake.

In an interview with Nana Ama and Shaban, Afua expressed her disappointment in the GWR for their decision to publicize her results without her knowledge stating that it was a breach of contract.

Mrs Aduonum said, “I know if Ghanaians are disappointed it may be because they didn’t hear it from me. I was at an event myself when I heard that the Guinness World Records had responded and I was a bit disappointed because I had complained to them about me not being able to access my account and was told that they were going to get back to me, but I don’t blame them because the social media attacks were too much and I’m sure that is why they did that”.

She added that, “per the contract I signed with GWR, the news must be announced through me and so if you haven’t given me access to my account, why then must you announce my results publicly”, she quizzed. “As I stand here now, I do not have time to sue anyone because there is a lot to be done”, she concluded.

Mrs. Afua Asantewaa Aduonum was named as Ghana’s Tourism ambassador after her longest singing marathon attempt and has also signed other ambassadorial deals as well. She announced her new project, “Light up the streets with Afua Asantewaa” because she cares about Ghana.
