Ghanaian football star Andre Ayew expressed deep gratitude to Olympique Marseille fans after scoring a consolation goal for Le Havre in their 5-1 defeat at the Velodrome on Sunday night in Ligue 1.

The 35-year-old forward, who started his professional career at Marseille, chose not to celebrate his goal out of respect for his former club. His gesture earned loud applause from fans across the stadium.

In a post-match interview with DAZN, Ayew said, “Honestly, I want to thank all the people of Marseille. I am touched from the bottom of my heart. This club has given me so much. It has always been my dream club.”

Ayew was visibly emotional on the bench after being substituted in the 88th minute, receiving a standing ovation from Marseille supporters.

The Ghanaian international player spent eight years at Marseille before moving to Swansea City in 2015. His goal against his boyhood club was his first in nine Ligue 1 appearances for Le Havre.

Despite Ayew’s effort, Le Havre’s struggles continue, with this defeat marking their fifth consecutive loss in the league.
