Asamoah Gyan calls for unity, support for Mahama's government

Former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has urged Ghanaians to unite behind the newly elected government led by John Dramani Mahama, following his victory in the 2024 general election.

In a heartfelt video message shared on social media, Gyan congratulated Mahama and his administration, stressing the importance of putting national interests above political affiliations. “We must support the government. Regardless of which party is in power, we all need to come together for the good of the nation,” he stated.

The former football star warned against actions that could harm the country’s progress, such as inflated prices that burden citizens. “If you buy goods for GHC 50 and sell them for GHC 1000, the country will suffer. We all need to take responsibility,” Gyan emphasized.

He called on the people of Ghana to set aside political divisions and focus on nation-building. “Ghana has made its choice. Let’s forget about party politics, and if your party wins, focus on supporting the government. We, as citizens, should also play our part,” he said.

Gyan also highlighted the need for a collective attitudinal shift, urging Ghanaians to adopt a positive approach for national development. “Let’s congratulate the new government and support them with a changed attitude,” he added.

In his final message, Gyan appealed to citizens to refrain from sabotaging the government and instead contribute to the nation’s growth. “As loyal citizens, let’s support the ruling NDC and avoid any actions that would hinder their work,” he concluded.
