Banning Ryan Garcia was the right thing& Sena Agbeko

0

Ghana super middleweight contender Sena “African Warrior” Agbeko has stated that banning American boxer Ryan Garcia for doping was the right thing to do.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Channel One Sports in the wake of Garcia’s one year ban by the New York Boxing Commission after he tested positive for using performance enhancing drugs in his bout against Devin Haney.

Garcia won the much talked about bout via a unanimous decision after dominating the fight but his win has been chalked off since the ruling.

For Agbeko, who is a huge anti-doping advocate, banning Garcia was the right thing to get boxing on track.

“I absolutely think they did the right thing, granted that Ryan Garcia was caught. I think that they did the right thing by taking Ryan Garcia’s win and penalizing him. They took away his entire purse which is a million dollars and they banned him for a year so I think they totally did the right thing as in a means of just that, hey this isn’t the right thing to do.”

Agbeko suffered a second round knockout loss to David Morrell in 2023 in Minnesota; Agbeko has 28 wins and three losses in his professional career.
