Frank Owusu-Asamoah is a seasoned Construction, Engineering, and Business Development Projects Manager with a diverse educational background, including an MSc in Engineering Project Management from Coventry University, UK, a BSc in Information Technology from Methodist University, and an HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. Certified as a Project Management Practitioner (PMP) and Scrum Fundamentals Certified (SFC), Frank excels in leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex Projects. His expertise spans Agile and Waterfall methodologies, encompassing Energy, Construction, Telecommunication, IT, Conferencing, Human Development Projects, among others.
Frank is adept at leading, planning, budgeting, communicating, managing quality and risk,writing proposals and technical reports, and managing contracts. With a strong track record in engaging stakeholders and ensuring quality in construction and engineering environments, he is proactive, meticulous, and excels in culturally diverse and challenging conditions.
Frank is currently the Consulting Project Manager for the Takoradi Distribution Station (TDS) Pressure Regulating SKID and Final Works Project (May, 2024 to date). Prior to this, he had worked on several strategic Projects spanning MEP Project; Road Construction projects; Energy efficiency and renewable Energy Projects; Mining Services Projects; Gas pipeline Electrical & Instrumentation Projects; Rural Telephony Projects; Telecommunication Network Optimization
and RAN Modernization Projects; among others As the president of the project Management Institute, Ghana Chapter, Frank has led several transformative initiatives including the formation and the implementation of the Professional Body – Project Management Institute, Ghana to champion the cause of project, Programs and Portfolio Management in Ghana; the continuation of the process and bringing to fruiting of the Chapter’s quest to have an enhanced Corporate governance structure by separating the Non-Executive Board from the Operational team; among others.
Under his tenure, the Chapter has gained improved publicity through the Chapter’s iconic National project Management Conference and project Management Excellence Awards; deepened collaborations with academic institutions through the signing of MoUs with major universities like the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA),
University of Cape Coast (UCC), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and technology, with
others close to being concluded.
Prior to his role as the President of PMI Ghana Chapter, Frank served as the Vice president (VP) Membership for the Chapter, from January, 2020 to December, 2022. During this period, the Chapter saw a membership growth from 490 to 1,290. Frank played a leading role in the nationwide celebration of the Chapter’s 10 th anniversary, which saw the Chapter organize a media
forum on Ghana’s water bodies; free health screening in Takoradi, Kumasi, Tamale, Ho and Abokobi in Accra. Donations were also made to the SOS Children’s village in Kumasi; School for the Deaf in Sekondi; Children’s home in Tamale, Central prisons in Ho and the inmates of the Pantang Hospital. introduction of the Membership Loyalty Awards, the enhanced Akwaaba
breakfast. During this period, the Chapter achieved the coveted Club 500 in 2020 and 2021 and
Club 500, 1000 and 1500 in 2022.
Frank spent the early days of his life in Dansoman and “Mmofra mfa adwene” in the East Akim Municipality of the Eastern region of Ghana. He had his basic education at the Kyebi-Apapam Presbyterian Primary School, Ahodwo D/A Primary School and the Kyebi-Apapam Salvation Army Primary School. He continued to the Kyebi Apapam Junior Secondary School from 1992 to 1995, where he graduated with a Basic Education Certificate Examination Certificate.
From there, he gained admission into Abuakwa State College (Abusco) in Kyebi in 1996, where he studied Science with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as Electives. After his graduation in 1998, Frank realized his love for Engineering oriented careers and had to study and sit for Elective Mathematics in 1999. Between 1998 and 1999, whiles he studied to sit for the Elective Mathematics course, he worked as a pupil teacher to fend for himself, having left his mother and
siblings in Kyebi-Apapam.
In 2000, he gained admission to the Takoradi Polytechnic (Now Takoradi Technical university) where he studied Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a major in Telecommunication Engineering, graduating in 2003 with a Higher National Diploma (HND) – second class upper honours.
He was posted by the National Service Scheme of Ghana to the Asuom Secondary School in the Kwaebibirim District of the Eastern Region where he taught Physics Elective Mathematics and core Science.
After the National Service period, he once again taught briefly at St. Mark Preparatory and JHS at Agege near Dansoman. In 2006, he was employed as the Electrical & Safety Training Instructor by TIC (The Industrial Company) for the Construction of the Newmont Ahafo Gold Process Plant.
In 2007, Frank joined Mantrac Ghana as Electrical Engineer, stationed on the Mantrac – VRA Caterpillar Generating sets Power plant in the Free zones enclave. Further to these, Frank joined Wood Group power operations as a Power plant Maintenance Supervisor; Infratech (Zain Telecommunications Operations) as field Radio Engineer; Vodafone
Ghana as a Field Maintenance Engineer, among others.
Frank has worked as a Freelance Consultant for such organizations as Ericson AB in Ghana and Sirrea Leone, NETIS Burkina Faso and La Cote D’Ivoire, Panacea Consulting.
