China to Offer Visa-Free Entry to Travelers from 9 Additional Countries Starting November 8

Citizens of nine more nations, including South Korea, Norway, and Finland, will be able to enter China for up to 15 days without a visa as of November 8, 2024. This action supports China’s initiatives to improve commercial and tourism relations internationally.

With effect from November 8, 2024, China has announced visa-free entrance for nationals of nine more nations, marking a significant step to improve international tourist and commercial ties. China’s efforts to facilitate travel and increase international relations are further strengthened by this action.

Visa-Free Entry in China

Citizens of certain nations can enter China for a certain period of time without a visa thanks to visa-free access. By making short-term trips easier for authorized nationals, this policy seeks to encourage travel and business interactions.

How It Operates

Travelers who meet the requirements can enter China for transit, business, tourist, or family visits for a maximum of 15 days without a visa. This policy is in place until the end of 2025 and applies to the designated nations.

New Nations Included in the Visa-Free Program

Citizens of the following nations can enter China for a maximum of 15 days without a visa starting on November 8.

  • Norway
  • South Korea
  • Slovakia
  • Finland
  • Iceland
  • Liechtenstein
  • Denmark
  • Monaco
  • Andorra

China is now much more accessible for short-term visits according to this new policy, which permits anyone to come for transit, business, tourist, or family visits. This most recent upgrade is a part of a larger Chinese initiative to make travel easier for Asian and European citizens, thereby promoting travel, commerce, and cross-cultural interactions.

Policy In Effect Until 2025

These nine countries’ visa-free entry policy will last until December 31, 2025, in line with China’s earlier extension of visa-free travel for 18 European countries. Five additional European nations were granted visa-free travel by China earlier this year, increasing the number of nations with streamlined entrance requirements to 18.

New Visa-Free Travel Plans for Asian and European Travelers

China has granted visa-free admission to several European and Asian countries in recent months, promoting travel and enhancing ties between nations. French, German, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, and Malaysian nationals holding regular passports are permitted entry into China for a maximum of 15 days without a visa between December 1, 2023, and November 30, 2024.

Other Visa-Free Group Tour and Transit Options

  • Beginning November 17, 2023, Norway will be able to travel to more than 20 Chinese cities without a visa for 72 or 144 hours.
  • Additionally, while traveling to Hainan Province as part of a planned group tour run by an approved travel agency, visitors can stay there for 15 to 21 days without a visa.

These regulations facilitate travel to China, increasing its appeal as a short-term travel destination.

Increasing Travel and Commercial Partnerships

China’s enlarged visa-free policy seeks to foster economic and cultural ties while solidifying its position as a major international tourism destination. In the first nine months of 2024, inbound tourism to China increased by an astounding 55.4%, according to the latest reports.

China hopes to increase foreign travel and solidify its standing as a major travel destination by extending its visa-free policy. It is anticipated that this most recent statement will significantly boost economic expansion and cross-cultural interactions between China and the recently admitted nations.

China Broadens Visa-Free Access to 18 European Nations

China has further loosened its visa regulations for visitors from Europe, allowing admission without a visa to five additional European nations as of October 15, 2024. This raises the total to 18 European nations that can visit China without a visa.

China has extended its efforts to promote tourist and commercial relations by announcing new visa-free travel arrangements for people from five more European nations, for a total of eighteen. China’s increased visa exemption program is a reflection of its efforts to improve international relations and enable easier, transient travel.

Visa-Free Entry for Five European Countries

Travelers from Cyprus, Denmark, Greece, Portugal, and Slovenia will be able to enter China for a maximum of 15 days without a visa starting on October 15, 2024. This new policy is effective until December 31, 2025, and it covers visits made for business, tourism, family visits, and transit.

With this most recent development, a total of 18 European countries—including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain—are now able to enter China without a visa.

Increasing Visa-Free Travel to Europe and Other Continents

Norway became one of the countries in China that did not require a visa earlier this year. In July, Poland, Australia, and New Zealand were all included in the visa-free program. China has demonstrated its continued commitment to fostering business and tourism links with Europe, Oceania, and other regions by using a phased approach to visa waivers, which was initiated in early 2024.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Mao Ning stressed that the program’s goal is to foster “the high-quality development of exchanges between Chinese and foreign nationals,” opening doors for more in-depth interactions on both a cultural and commercial level.
