Ghana FA to hold retreat on November 28 after AFCON qualification failure

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced plans to hold a retreat on November 28 at the Ghanaian Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
This decision follows a meeting by the Executive Council on November 21, after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. This marks the first time in 20 years that the senior national team will miss the tournament.
Ghana, a four-time AFCON champion, last won the title in 1982. The Black Stars finished last in Group F during the qualifiers, earning just three points from six matches, with three draws and three losses.
In a statement, the GFA explained that the retreat will engage various stakeholders, including the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), the media, the National Sports Authority, former players, coaches, and other professionals. Government representatives, such as officials from the Ministries of Sports, Finance, and Education, will also participate.
The retreat aims to gather ideas to improve the performance of the Black Stars and other national teams. The GFA assured Ghanaians of its commitment to rebuilding the national team and thanked the public for their support and patience.
Additionally, the GFA has dissolved the Black Stars Management Committee and plans to meet head coach Otto Addo on November 27, a day before the retreat.
