Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club centre back Samba Oneil has welcomed the comparison to Sevilla defender Sergio Ramos by fans of the club.

He said this to Kotoko media after helping the Porcupine Warriors beat big rivals Accra Hearts of Oak 2-1 to win the maiden Democracy Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

The win marked the third time in a row Kotoko have beaten Hearts of Oak in the 2023-2024 campaign with the other wins coming in the Ghana Premier League.

After joining Kotoko recently, the Congolese defender starred in the Democracy Cup win and won the Man of the Match Award. In the aftermath of the brilliant debut, he stated that,

“I feel happy. Kotoko is a big club and I was playing (against) Hearts of Oak which is also big that’s why I wanted to show myself to Kotoko supporters that I’m here. I’m happy to hear people say that (compare me to Sergio Ramos) because Ramos is my model…so me too I want to play like him.”
