Henry Asante Twum: Black Stars’ winless streak is unusual

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has expressed concern about the Black Stars’ poor performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Currently, the Black Stars are in 3rd place in Group F, having earned only 2 points from 4 games out of a possible 12. This result has caused worry, as the team has yet to win a match in the qualifiers.

Asante Twum said it is unusual for the national team to go four matches without a victory. “It is very worrying for the country and the players, but I know the coach and the team are focused on doing their best in the last two games,” he stated in an interview with Asempa FM.

Ghana began their qualifiers with a 1-0 loss to Angola at home, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger in Morocco. In two matches against Sudan, the team played a goalless draw in Accra and then lost 2-0 in Libya.

To have a chance of qualifying, Ghana must win their remaining matches against Angola on November 15 in Luanda and Niger at home in Accra. They also need Sudan to lose their final two games.

The Black Stars will finish their training before flying to Luanda on Wednesday to prepare for the upcoming match.
