A prominent fashion firm in Accra is looking for a professional plant Supervisor/Operations Manager to manage daily operations in their garment-making plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in garment making, including knowledge of sewing, cutting, illustration, and fabric finishing. This position demands a proactive leader who can oversee the tailoring, beading, and production teams while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting production targets. The Factory Supervisor will be in charge of streamlining operations, increasing productivity, and providing timely and attractive finishes on all garments.

Key Responsibilities

Production oversight and quality control.

  • Supervise tailors, bead makers, and other craftspeople to ensure they meet quality standards and requirements.
  • Oversee all aspects of garment manufacturing, from design and cutting to sewing, beading, and finishing.
  • Conduct quality control inspections at each level of manufacturing to ensure precise measurements, immaculate stitches, and exceptional finish.
  • To avoid wasting or damaging materials and fabrics, handle them with care.

Operations Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily production schedules to ensure efficient and timely execution of all orders.
  • Manage and coordinate inventory levels for textiles, beads, and other supplies, collaborating closely with the procurement team to ensure prompt reordering.
  • Implement and implement factory policies to keep the workspace organized, clean, and safe.
  • Monitor production costs and budgets, and provide monthly updates to the CEO.

Team Management & Development

  • Train, mentor, and support the production crew to ensure they have the necessary skills for sewing, cutting, and garment finishing.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and establish goals for continual growth.
  • Create a healthy, collaborative work environment that values professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Manage scheduling and shift assignments to maximize productivity and coverage.

Design and Technical Support

  • Collaborate with designers to guarantee that their ideas are turned into production-ready clothes.
  • Provide instructions on garment construction techniques, images, and finishing processes.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and offer hands-on support as needed.

Production Planning and Process Improvement

  • Evaluate and enhance production operations, looking for ways to boost efficiency and cut waste.
  • Implement new procedures, tools, and technology as needed to streamline production.
  • Keep accurate production records, including timelines, expenses, and resource utilization, to assist future projects.

Client Liaison and Reporting

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the factory team and the CEO, providing updates on production progress, difficulties, and accomplishments.
  • Ensure that client requirements are clearly understood and incorporated into production processes.
  • Create regular progress and productivity reports, identifying areas for improvement.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Ensure that health and safety requirements are followed throughout the production, including setting guidelines for safe equipment use and waste management.
  • Maintain a lawful and ethical workplace by ensuring compliance with labour and industry regulations.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in garment making, including sewing, cutting, finishing, and illustration.
  • Proven supervisory or managerial experience in a clothing industry or a similar context.
  • Strong technical understanding of garment construction and manufacture.
  • Outstanding leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate under pressure, fulfill deadlines, and produce high-quality results.
