Nora Häuptle reaffirms commitment to Ghana amid calls for Zambia appointment
Despite calls for her to become Zambia’s Head Coach, Black Queens Coach Nora Häuptle says she remains dedicated to her current role as Coach of the senior women’s national team.
Zambian fans expressed their desire for the Swiss coach after Ghana’s impressive 3-3 draw in their final 2024 Olympic qualifier in Ndola, although Ghana ultimately missed out on the Olympics after a 1-0 first-leg loss in Accra.
The strong performance against a top African team earned admiration, including from Zambian fans.
Speaking ahead of their friendly against Japan on Saturday, July 13, Häuptle emphasized her commitment to her mission with the Black Queens.
“I’m the Ghana national team coach. Of course, it’s an honour when other countries are asking for me, but I know where I belong to.
“I started here a mission. I have a fantastic squad.
“I have a very good human relation to my players. So I’m committed here.
“The Mission Volta, the next step is to succeed on a WAFCON. I’m willing to fulfil my job here.
“And besides that, it’s not in my mind. But of course, that means that we are not doing things wrongly when there are such demands around.”
The Black Queens are set to leave Ghana on Sunday, heading to Japan for a friendly match at the Kanazawa Go Go Curry Stadium on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
