Ghanaian media personality and entrepreneur, Mrs Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, has revealed that although her record attempt failed, she still considers it a successful one.

She revealed this on GTV’s breakfast show in an interview with Valerie Danso.

On Friday, February 23, 2024, Guinness World Records announced that Ghana’s Afua Asantewaa failed to break the longest singing marathon she attempted in December 2023, but according to Afua Asantewaa, whatever the outcome, it was a successful one.

The Guinness World Record is a book published every year that gives all the records achieved in a very wide range of fields and activities.

According to Afua, “whatever the outcome is, I believe it was a successful attempt because while I was doing the record attempt, there was another man somewhere attempting a record attempt who couldn’t go past day 3, and so this is a success to me.”

She added, “the very moment my confirmation letter came in, I was fortunate to be blessed with a man who inspires me. He made me understand that this is just an attempt, but you want to do this and I will support you. This is a journey that will inspire many  people.”

Afua Asantewaa had embarked on a remarkable endeavour to surpass the existing record for the longest continuous singing marathon to promote Ghanaian music, which was unsuccessful.

The acknowledgement of the Sing-A-thon’s outcome was made public through a post on the official Guinness World Records platform.
