1. an egress, way out (Homer, and others): applied figuratively to the way of escape from temptation into which one
εἰσέρχεται or
εἰσφέρεται (see these words),
1 Corinthians 10:13.
2. in a sense foreign to secular authors,
the issue [(cf. its objective sense
e. g. Epictetus diss. 2, 7, 9)] equivalent to
end: used of the end of life, Wis. 2:17;
ἐκβ.
τῆς ἀναστροφῆς τινων, in
Hebrews 13:7, is not merely the end of their physical life, but the manner in which they closed a well-spent life as exhibited by their spirit in dying; cf. Delitzsch, at the passage.
