κατά-θεμα, -τος, τό, i. q. κατανάθεμα (q. v.), of which it seems to be a vulgar corruption by syncope [cf. Koumanoudes, Συναγὴ λέξεων ἀθησαύρ. κτλ. s. v. κατάς]; a curse; by menton. worthy of execration, an accursed thing: Revelation 22:3 [Rec. κατανάθεμα; cf. Just.
