Headlines Unserious, dazed NPP not reached out to me; NDC did — A Plus

THU, 12 DEC 2024

Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus and the Member of Parliament-elect for Gomoa Central, has revealed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has already reached out to him to join their caucus in Ghana’s 9th Parliament, while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has yet to contact him.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, A Plus commended the NDC for their proactive approach, describing the party as serious.

“They have [called me]. I am very happy with the NDC; they have called me,” he stated, adding that he is still weighing his options.

A Plus, who contested the election as an independent candidate, emphasized that his decision will hinge on what benefits his constituents the most.

“It will be for my people. If they are going to help my people, I am also going to help them. All that I want is for my people to prosper,” he explained.

When asked whether the NPP had also reached out, A Plus dismissed the idea, describing them as “unserious” party. He is claiming the party is in a state of disarray following its humiliating defeat in the 2024 general elections.

“They are unserious… No, they have not reached out. The people are currently dazed; who is going to make that call?” he stated.

“They are unserious… No, they have not reached out. But then again, who amongst them will call? The people are currently dazed; who is going to make that call? They refused to listen to our advice. Just as we are telling the NDC now, we advised the NPP, and they didn’t listen.

“As someone capable of winning a seat as an independent candidate, you should know that I have some sense in politics,” he stressed.

A Plus criticized the NPP for failing to heed advice and losing touch with the electorate.

“You failed to listen to my advice; now look at the disgrace you have brought on yourself. Is this the party that was founded by J.A. Kufuor and J.H. Mensah?” he lamented.
