Chapter 81
(AMP)
Psalms 81
Ready to read
1
And killed mighty kings, For His lovingkindness endures forever;
2
Sihon, king of the Amorites, For His lovingkindness endures forever;
3
And Og, king of Bashan, For His lovingkindness endures forever;
4
And gave their land as a heritage, For His lovingkindness endures forever;
5
Even a heritage to Israel His servant, For His lovingkindness endures forever;
6
Who [faithfully] remembered us in our lowly condition, For His lovingkindness endures forever;
7
And has rescued us from our enemies, For His lovingkindness endures forever;
8
Who gives food to all flesh, For His lovingkindness endures forever;
9
Give thanks to the God of heaven, For His lovingkindness (graciousness, mercy, compassion) endures forever.
10
By the rivers of Babylon, There we [captives] sat down and wept, When we remembered Zion [the city God imprinted on our hearts].
11
On the willow trees in the midst of Babylon We hung our harps.
12
For there they who took us captive demanded of us a song with words, And our tormentors [who made a mockery of us demanded] amusement, saying, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion."
13
How can we sing the Lord's song In a strange and foreign land?
14
If I forget you, O Jerusalem, Let my right hand forget [her skill with the harp].
15
Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth If I do not remember you, If I do not prefer Jerusalem Above my chief joy.
16
Remember, O LORD, against the sons of Edom, The day of [the fall of] Jerusalem, Who said "Down, down [with her] To her very foundation."
