Ezekiel Chapter 27 (Passion Bible)
Yahweh spoke to me and said,
“Son of man, sing a funeral song for Tyre.
Say to Tyre, the city with ports on the Mediterranean Sea, merchant city for many peoples and many islands:
Your frontiers were on the high sea,
As if they were building a ship
They made your oars
Your sails and banners were of colorful
Your oarsmen were rulers[4] from the cities of Sidon and Arvad,
The elders and craftsmen of Byblos[5]
Your army was composed of warriors from Persia,[6] Lud,[7] and Libya.[8] By hanging their weapons on your deck,[9] they displayed your splendor.
Soldiers from Arvad[10] and Helech manned your walls all around. Brave warriors[11] manned your watchtowers, hanging their shields all around your walls to make your beauty complete.’ ”
“ ‘The people of Tarshish[12] traded with you because of your abundant resources of every kind. They imported your products and exported silver, iron, tin, and lead.
The Greeks[13] along with nations of Tubal[14] and Meshech[15] traded with you. They sold you slaves[16] and metal utensils.
The people of Beth Togarmah[17] traded for your goods, your war horses and work horses and mules.
The people of Rhodes[18] traded with you; many coastal lands were your special customers and paid you in ivory tusks and ebony wood.[19]
Edom[20] traded with you emeralds, purple cloth, embroidered work and fine linen, coral and rubies for your many fine manufactured goods.
Judah and the land of Israel also paid for your goods with the finest millet,[21] spices,[22] honey, olive oil, and balm.
Damascus traded with you, for quantities of your abundant resources of every kind, furnishing you with wine from Helbon[23] and unbleached wool,[24]
casks of wine from Izalla,[25] polished iron, cassia and calamus[26] in exchange for your goods.
Dedan[27] traded with you in saddle blankets.[28]
Arabia and all the sheikhs of Kedar[29] were your clients,[30] selling sheep and goats to you.
Businessmen of Sheba[31] and Raamah[32] traded with you the finest spices, precious stones, and gold.
Haran,[33] Canneh,[34] and Eden,[35] the merchants of Sheba, Asshur,[36] and Chilmad[37] were your trading partners.
In your marketplace they sold you gorgeous embroidered clothing, purple cloaks, multi-colored carpets, and well-made cords for your merchandise.’ ”
“ ‘Heavily loaded Spanish ships[38]
Your oarsmen rowed you
On the day of your shipwreck,
When they hear the shouts of your drowning sailors,
All the oarsmen will abandon ship;
They will wail aloud over you
They will shave their heads in sorrow for you
Grieving, they will chant a funeral song for you,
When you exported your goods
Now you are broken to pieces by the waves;
Those who dwell on the coast and the islands
Your trading partners hiss at you in scorn,
