Danger looms as COVID-19 advertising board posses threat to pedestrians

A COVID 19 campaign advertising board on the Liberation road near the Ghana Immigration Service headquarters and the Canadian High Commission has become a clear and an eminent danger to public safety.

The advertising board which stands over foot high and likely weighs about a tone, is completely rusted at the top and precariously hangs on only two of the four bars welded together to firmly hold it together.

The advertising board is visibly seen to swing to and fro each time the wind blows. Interestingly, members of the public who use that pedestrian walk to get to places like Ghana immigration Service headquarters near the Canadian High Commission are unaware of this looming danger hanging overhead.

Although this report is unable to say how long this rusted advertising board has been in this state, the eminent danger it poses to public safety cannot be dismissed or ignored.

At the time filing this report, GTV breakfast Show’s Darroll Allan Tagoe counted well over 20 persons who used the pedestrian walk. The reporter also observed how some workers pulling underground cables around the advertising board worked so close to it, pretty much oblivious to the danger overhead. Some officers in Ghana Immigration Service uniforms were also spotted walking under the advertising board also assumedly oblivious to this danger.

If this advertising board should give away in a strong wind and should fall on a passerby, the could cause a grievous injury or a possible death.

The earlier this advertising board is removed or fixed, the better the interest of public safety is preserved.
