Parliament to consider 24 bills, including EPA, Broadcasting, Rent, Fees and Charges

Parliament is expected to consider about 24 bills made up of Loan Agreements, Mining Leases, Commercial Agreements, Instruments, Tax Waivers, Import Duties as well as about 11 Statutory Reports to be laid and considered for the first sitting of the third meeting of Parliament.

The Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has charged his colleagues to prepare for the herculean task ahead of them in this Third Meeting, as he encouraged Committee Chairpersons and their Ranking Members to expedite action on the various items already before them and prepare to receive new referrals as the Speaker may so direct.

The bills to be considered are:

1. Energy Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2023;

2. Community Service Sentencing Bill, 2024;

3. Ghana National Service Authority Bill, 2024

4. Ghana Book Development Agency Bill, 2024;

5. University for Engineering and Applied Sciences (Ankrodie) Bill, 2024;

6. University for Health, Agriculture and Life Sciences (Kintampo) Bill, 2024;

7. University of Mampong Bill, 2024;

8. University of Sports and Development Bill, 2024;

9. Colleges of Applied Arts, Science and Technology Bill, 2024;

10. Business Regulatory Reform Commission Bill, 2024;

11. Conduct of Public Officers Bill, 2024;

12. Economic and Organised Crime Office (Amendment) Bill, 2024;

13. Legal Profession Bill, 2024;

14. Presidential Transition (Amendment) Bill, 2024;

15. Environmental Protection Agency Bill, 2024;

16. Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Bill, 2024;

17. Ghana Housing Authority Bill, 2024;

18. Rent Bill, 2023;

19. Minerals and Mining (Amendment) (No.2) Bill, 2024;

20. Broadcasting Bill, 2024;

21. Internal Audit Agency Bill, 2024;

22. Ghana Deposit Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2024

23. Fees and Charges (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Bill, 2024;

24. Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

There are also a number of statutory Reports that ought to be laid and considered by the House including:

1. Annual Report on the Management of the Energy Sector Levies and Accounts for the Year 2023;

2. Annual Public Debt Management Report for the 2023 Financial Year;

3. Reconciliation Report on the Petroleum Holding Fund for the Year 2023;

4. Annual Report on Public Private Partnership Projects for the Year 2023;

5. Annual Report on the Petroleum Funds for the 2023 Fiscal Year;

6. Annual Report on the Management of the Energy Sector Levies and Accounts for the Year 2022;

7. Annual Public Debt Management Report for the 2022 Financial Year;

 8. Reconciliation Report on the Petroleum Holding Fund for the Year 2022;

9. Annual Report on Public Private Partnership Projects for the Year 2022;

10. Annual Report on the Petroleum Funds for the 2022 Fiscal Year;

11. Annual Report on the Collection and Utilisation of the African Union Import Levy for the 2022 Fiscal Year.

“As you always observe rightly, during recess, Hon Members do not idle, but continue to perform their constitutional and statutory obligations to the people we represent. Members take the opportunity to visit their constituencies and interact with their constituents and also undertake assignments and problem resolutions that the people require. Be that as it may, it is my fervent hope that Hon Members were able to make time to rest and relax in order to be refreshed and renewed for the arduous tasks and responsibilities this Meeting may  present,” he said.
