POSITION: Account Officer

Hanex Wex Construction is seeking an Account Officer to join our team. If you possess strong knowledge of accounting principles, proficiency in Excel and accounting software, plus high levels of integrity and attention to detail, this role offers the opportunity to manage accounts payable and receivable, monitor budgets, perform bank reconciliations, and support tax filings for a growing wholly Ghanaian owned real estate business.

As an Account Officer, you will not simply record transactions; you will maintain accurate financial records, support budgeting and compliance, and collaborate with Procurement, Project Management, and Administration teams to ensure efficient financial management.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for maintaining accurate, up to date financial records including invoices, receipts, payments, and transactions. Your role includes managing accounts payable and receivable, assisting in budget monitoring, performing regular bank reconciliations, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Additionally, you will support payroll preparation, assist with tax filing processes, help during internal and external audits, and work cross departmentally with Procurement, Project Management, and Administration.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans record keeping, accounts management, budget monitoring, reconciliation, reporting, payroll, compliance, audit support, and collaboration. Here is what you will tackle:

Financial Record Keeping

  • You will maintain accurate, up to date financial records, including invoices, receipts, payments, and transactions.
  • Ensuring every financial event gets properly documented and filed.

Accounts Management

  • You will manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of payments and collections.
  • Following up on overdue invoices and reconciling customer accounts.

Budget Monitoring

  • You will assist in monitoring company budgets and expenses, helping control costs and improve financial efficiency.
  • Flagging variances between actual spending and budgeted amounts.

Bank Reconciliation

  • You will perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly, catching errors before they compound.
  • Matching bank statements with internal records to ensure every transaction matches.

Financial Reporting

  • You will prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review, summarizing revenue, expenses, and cash flow.
  • Presenting data in clear, actionable formats.

Payroll Support

  • You will assist with payroll preparation and ensure timely salary processing, verifying hours, deductions, and net pay.
  • Coordinating with HR to capture new hires or changes in status.

Tax & Compliance

  • You will support tax filing processes and ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
  • Staying current with tax deadlines to avoid penalties.

Audit Support

  • You will assist during internal and external audits by preparing relevant financial documents and reports.
  • Providing auditors with organized, complete files.

Cross Department Collaboration

  • You will work closely with Procurement, Project Management, and Administration teams to support operational and financial needs.

What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

  • Two to four years of proven experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and financial compliance gives you an advantage.
