POSITION: Security Officers

Ghana Railway Development Authority is seeking six Security Officers to join our team in Tema. If you can patrol railway facilities, monitor activities, control access at stations and terminals, respond to incidents and emergencies, and maintain security logs and reports, this role offers the opportunity to ensure the safety of passengers, staff, cargo, and railway assets.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for patrolling railway facilities, including stations, terminals, tracks, and depots. Your role includes monitoring activities to detect suspicious behaviour, controlling access at entry points, and responding promptly to incidents and emergencies. Additionally, you will maintain accurate security logs and reports, documenting every shift’s activities and incidents.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans patrol, monitoring, access control, incident response, reporting, and compliance enforcement. Here is what you will tackle:

Patrol

• You will patrol railway facilities, including stations, terminals, tracks, and depots, covering your assigned area systematically.
• Checking for unauthorized persons, safety hazards, or signs of tampering.

Monitoring

• You will monitor activities within railway facilities, using CCTV where available and direct observation.
• Identifying suspicious behaviour before it escalates.

Access Control

• You will control access at stations and terminals, verifying credentials and ensuring only authorized personnel enter restricted areas.
• Challenging individuals who cannot produce valid identification or tickets.

Incident & Emergency Response

• You will respond to incidents and emergencies, including accidents, fires, thefts, or medical situations.
• Following established protocols while waiting for police, fire, or medical services.

Reporting

• You will maintain security logs and reports, documenting shift activities, incidents, and responses.
• Submitting reports to supervisors at the end of each shift.

Compliance Enforcement

• You will enforce compliance with safety and security procedures, reminding passengers and staff of rules.
• Detaining individuals who violate security protocols until authorities arrive.

What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications & Experience

• A minimum of SHS education or equivalent.
• Two to three years of experience in security services, demonstrating your ability to handle patrol, access control, and incident response.
• Good physical fitness to walk long distances, stand for extended periods, and respond quickly to emergencies.
• Alertness to notice unusual behaviour or safety hazards.
• Strong communication skills to interact with passengers, staff, and emergency responders.
• Strong observation skills to remember faces, descriptions, and sequences of events.
