POSITION: Farm Caretaker

UMEX Farms is seeking a Farm Caretaker to conduct regular inspections, maintain boundaries, monitor plantation health, prevent theft and fires, supervise casual labourers, and protect farm assets. If you are honest, reliable, and able to work independently, this role offers free accommodation, monthly airtime, and a data bundle for communication and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans inspection, weeding, boundary maintenance, health monitoring, threat prevention, labour coordination, cleanliness, planting support, record keeping, and asset protection. Here is what you will tackle:

Inspection & Reporting

• You will conduct regular inspections of the farm and report any issues promptly.
• Identifying problems before they escalate.

Weeding & Cleanliness

• You will carry out weeding activities and ensure the farm remains clean and free from excessive weeds.
• Keeping the farm tidy and productive.

Boundary Maintenance

• You will maintain all farm boundaries and ensure boundary lines are clearly visible and free from weeds and bushes.
• Preventing encroachment and disputes.

Health Monitoring

• You will monitor the health and growth of oil palm and coconut plantations and report any problems affecting their development.
• Spotting pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies early.

Threat Prevention

• You will prevent and report theft, encroachment, bushfires, pest attacks, diseases, or any other threats to the farm.
• Then, Protecting the farm from loss and damage.

Labour Coordination

• You will coordinate and supervise casual labourers engaged for weeding, planting, boundary maintenance, or other farm activities.
• Also, Ensuring work gets done efficiently.

Cleanliness & Security

• You will ensure the farm compound and surrounding areas are clean, orderly, and secure at all times.
• Moreover, Maintaining a professional appearance.

Planting Support

• You will assist with the planting and maintenance of coconut seedlings when planting activities commence.
• Additionally, Supporting plantation expansion.

Record Keeping

• You will maintain simple records of farm activities and submit reports to management as required.
• Documenting work completed and issues encountered.

Asset Protection

• You will protect all farm assets, tools, equipment, and infrastructure entrusted to your care.
• Preventing theft, damage, or loss.

What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications & Experience

• A minimum of Junior High School education.
• Previous experience in farming, plantation management, or agricultural field work gives you an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of oil palm and coconut cultivation practices.

Skills & Personal Attributes

• Ability to carry out weeding, pruning, boundary maintenance, and general farm upkeep.
• Ability to identify and report pests, diseases, bushfires, theft, and encroachment issues.
• Physically fit and capable of performing outdoor farm activities.
• Ability to supervise and work with casual labourers when required.
• Basic record keeping and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Honest, reliable, and committed to protecting farm assets and property.
• Knowledge of bushfire prevention and fire belt maintenance gives you an added advantage.
• Ability to operate basic farm tools and equipment safely.
