Job Duties
- Provide specialist cardiology care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
- Deliver diagnostic and interventional cardiac services including ECG, echocardiography, and catheter-based procedures.
- Participate in cardiac catheterisation lab activities including PCI and pacing programmes.
- Support heart failure clinics and cardiac imaging services including CT coronary angiography and cardiac MRI.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
- Provide supervision and training for registrars, junior doctors, and clinical staff.
- Participate in on-call rosters with manageable scheduling arrangements.
- Engage in service development and clinical governance activities.
- Support research, teaching, and continuous medical education initiatives.
- Collaborate with primary care providers and community health services.
Job Requirements
- Specialist qualification in cardiology with eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
- Recognition equivalent to Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent overseas qualification.
- Strong clinical experience in general and interventional cardiology practice.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and collaborative healthcare teams.
- Commitment to clinical excellence, patient-centred care, and continuous improvement.
- Willingness to participate in on-call duties and service development activities.
- Strong communication skills and leadership capability in clinical environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in advanced cardiac procedures such as PCI, pacing, or electrophysiology.
- Exposure to cardiac imaging including CT coronary angiography and cardiac MRI.
- Experience in teaching, mentoring, or academic cardiology roles.
