GOD REIGNS FOREVER

Scripture Reading: Psalm 10

The LORD is King forever and ever; The nations have perished out of His land._ Psalm 10:16

The Psalmist makes a bold declaration of who God is – the Lord is King forever and ever. This was against the backdrop of bewilderment about the ways of the wicked and God’s response to them. Though he began with questions, he progressed in his prayer to make requests and bold assertions.  

God is King.

The wicked claim that there is no God, but the truth is that God rules over all! It takes faith to believe that there is a God even when He seems absent and unconcerned about our predicaments. That dilemma stared in the face of the Psalmist. But by his declaration, he affirmed that God was active in His situation.

God rules in the lives of His people.

Kings have domains over which they rule. Everyone who surrenders to the Lord, opens up to His gentle and loving rule. He orders our steps and directs the affairs of our lives to conform to His will for us.  

God rules over the plans of the wicked.

The wicked may plot and scheme, but they are limited in what they can do. God has authority over their plans. In a moment He can scatter all their ideas and devices and bring them to naught. 

God rules in the events of the world.

God has not given up the world to the evil one and his followers. The changing scenes and happenings in the world do not take Him by surprise. The Lord uses the events of life to manifest His purposes and power.

God rules forever and ever.

God’s rule does not end. Evil may rule for a time and season but cannot rule forever. Whatever evil there is, it has an expiry date – a date of judgment. In the end, God’s rule outlasts and outlives all others.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, use everything I am going through to work out your purposes for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
