Consequently, we seek a Supervisor, CIC – Surface who shares our values and can drive the performance of our Surface CIC operations and maintenance team.

The Opportunity Awaits You

We currently seek a Supervisor, CIC – Surface to join our team in Obuasi. This position places you at the forefront of our surface infrastructure operations, where you will monitor and control the output of the CIC operations and maintenance team. Your leadership will ensure we apply operational policies, standards, processes, and procedures to maximise plant availability in a sustainable, cost effective manner while minimising operational risks.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety leading indicators and total quality management principles, leading by example to create a safe working environment.
  • Use inspections, audits, JHA, and other elements of the Safety Management System to ensure compliance by self and team.
  • Assist with timely investigation of injuries, illness, and incidents and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure adequate training sessions are organised with the Engineering Training Coordinator on gaps identified in Surface CIC maintenance work.
  • Provide on the job training for CIC employees in control, communication, and network systems and installations.
  • Ensure OEM and vendor training is carried out for the site operational team for all new or refurbished installations.
  • Coordinate with the Training section to provide internal and external technical training.
  • Stop any unsafe work and issue safety related instructions to employees at the workplace.
  • Initiate troubleshooting requirements for CIC faults and make recommendations for system improvement.
  • Execute condition monitoring and routine checks including visual checks, vibration data collection, infrared data collection, and more.
  • Analyse and trend predictive maintenance data to determine plant condition and report for action.
  • Develop shift plans, ensure safe workplace conditions, and efficiently allocate skills, materials, tools, and services.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory audits and inspections.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve cost, schedule, quality, and safety outcomes.
  • Provide technical CIC input into the development of commissioning plans.
  • Plan refurbishment and construction labour and resources to support commissioning.
  • Inspect refurbishment works to ensure delivery in accordance with applicable designs and specifications.
  • Oversee witness inspections and testing to ensure quality and performance meet obligations.
  • Proactively identify and manage change to avoid potential cost, schedule, and quality issues.
  • Agree and define all change management for the Controls, Instrumentation, and Communication unit.

Qualification and Experience

To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of academic qualifications, professional experience, and technical knowledge. Specifically, we require:

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, OR
  • Diploma in Engineering in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering in accordance with Reg. 51 and 54 LI2182 with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, OR
  • Technician Part III Certificate with 5 years of experience in engineering operations.
  • Sectional Engineer or Inspecting Engineer Certificate of Competence from the Inspectorate Division of the Mineral Commission.
  • Professional certification with a recognised certification body.

Experience

  • Experience as CIC maintenance personnel, preferably in the extractive industry.
  • Experience in management of Maintenance and Repair Contracts.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of SAP PM module.
  • Experience in radio and telephone communication installations and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in contractor management.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven competencies in controls, instrumentation, and communication in a mining environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to make sound and timely decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take a whole of mine view to business operation and optimisation.
  • Ability to build relationships with key client personnel and identify business opportunities.
  • Team based focus with a proactive approach to meeting customer requirements.
  • Proven ability to organise and prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
  • Strong QC and QA competencies and maintenance competencies in fixed plants.
  • Sound project management skills and commercial acumen.
  • Working knowledge in process automation, operation, and installations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to delegate tasks and evaluate progression and adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to re prioritise planned activities and tasks.
  • Hands on approach and willingness to work long hours to obtain required results.
  • Ability to meet diverse engineering challenges and build sustainable teams.
  • Ability to continuously improve processes and model work behaviours consistent with company values.
  • Proven ability to initiate and drive construction projects through their life cycle.
  • Ability to find innovative solutions through creative thinking and problem solving.
  • Ability to create an environment of teamwork and willingness to help coworkers.
  • Organisational skills to keep track of workers, schedules, and budgets.
