About the Fellowship

NetHope connects nonprofit, technology, and humanitarian expertise worldwide. Fellows work independently with guidance from an AI Fellowship Lead. Stream 1 covers AI adoption and governance case studies. Stream 2 focuses on technical, localized AI system evaluation.

What Fellows Receive

Fellows receive a stipend recognizing their time and research contributions. Guidance comes from NetHope’s AI Fellowship Lead and subject experts. Fellows are credited as named authors on research outputs. NetHope retains ownership of all resulting research and intellectual property.

Who Can Apply

Applicants should be mid-career to seasoned practitioners with strong analytical skills. Stream 1 suits policy, evaluation, or development systems backgrounds. Stream 2 suits computer science, machine learning, or data science expertise. All fellows must pass an OFAC screening before starting.

Required Materials

Applicants submit a CV and a letter addressing three specific questions. Two to three professional references are required for consideration. A writing sample is optional but may strengthen the application.
