About the Fellowship

SHE-CAN helps low-income women who would not otherwise study in the United States. Scholars prepare for English and college entrance exams. They then apply for full-ride scholarships at top U.S. colleges. After their studies, scholars return home to lead change in their countries. Accepted scholars must dedicate their days from January to June to the pre-college program. During that time, they must not work full-time.

What Fellows Receive

• A full-ride scholarship from a U.S. college, covering tuition, housing, and meals
• Test preparation classes funded by SHE-CAN
• Passport and visa fees, and flights to the U.S. and home
• Textbooks and health insurance
• Mentorship and leadership training

Scholars and families cover travel to test preparation classes in the capital city. Scholars also work on campus to pay for personal expenses. SHE-CAN does not pay medical costs beyond its insurance, including dental and vision care.
