Job Summary

Internal audit protects organisational integrity. Consequently, the person in this position evaluates risk management, internal controls, and governance processes. Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the internal audit function according to professional standards and best practices
• Develop and implement a risk based annual internal audit plan for board approval
• Conduct financial, operational, compliance, information systems, and performance audits across the facility
• Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems
• Assess the effectiveness of risk management and corporate governance processes
• Ensure compliance with the Internal Audit Agency Act, Public Financial Management Act, Public Procurement Act, and other applicable regulations
• Review the economy and effectiveness of operations and resource utilisation
• Investigate suspected fraud, financial irregularities, and other improprieties
• Prepare and present timely audit reports to management and the board
• Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and report on outstanding issues
• Liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and oversight institutions
• Provide advisory services on internal controls, risk management, and governance
• Supervise, mentor, and develop staff within the internal audit department

Qualification and Experience

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline
• Professional membership of ICAG, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or an equivalent recognised body
• Minimum eight years of relevant post qualification experience in internal auditing, external auditing, finance, or risk management
• At least three years in a senior management or leadership position
• Practical knowledge of public sector governance and regulatory frameworks for state owned enterprises will be an added advantage
• Membership of IIA Ghana and possession of the CIA qualification will be an advantage
