POSITION: Finance Officer

Sightsavers is seeking a Project Finance Officer to support the Digital Futures Programme. As Project Finance Officer, you will not simply process transactions; you will manage day to day financial operations, ensure donor compliance, oversee partner reporting, and align financial activities with programme goals. Your Mission

You will take responsibility for the financial operations of the Digital Futures Programme, spanning donor budget management, financial reporting, partner oversight, procurement coordination, and compliance adherence. Your ability to prepare monthly budget versus actual reports, review partner financial submissions, and undertake quarterly monitoring visits will keep the programme financially healthy and donor ready.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans donor budget management, financial reporting, partner financial oversight, procurement coordination, and compliance. Here is what you will tackle:

Donor Budget Management & Reporting

• You will prepare and maintain the Project Budget, ensuring complete, timely data throughout the programme lifecycle.
• Working with the project team, you will disseminate donor related information to project, finance, and logistics staff plus partners, enabling them to abide by donor rules and regulations.
• In coordination with project staff and partners, you will prepare and regularly update the spending plan, keeping everyone aligned on burn rate.

Financial Management & Reporting

• You will prepare monthly budget versus actual reports and send them to the Programme Manager and other relevant staff.
• Preparing quarterly financial reports as per Institutional donor requirements ensures completeness, accuracy, and timeliness for adequate review, approval, and submission to the Finance Lead.
• Capturing and reviewing transactions in AMC monthly ensures correct coding, accurate capture, and clear descriptions.
• Preparing and consolidating the monthly invoice and expense projection, then analysing differences between projections and actual spending, allows you to submit adjustments as required.
• Ensuring financial reports comply with the Donor’s exchange rate policies means tracking expenditure in currencies other than GBP and identifying the correct conversion rates.

Partner Financial Reporting & Oversight

• You will ensure partners report using the required reporting template for both internal and donor formats.
• Reviewing and coordinating the consolidation of partner financial reports keeps data consistent and audit ready.
• Undertaking quarterly financial monitoring visits to partners allows you to review internal control processes and provide capacity building in procurement, reporting, compliance, and other areas of weakness.
• Coordinating with all partners for review of financial reports, payment requests, and overall financial oversight includes integrating reports and providing financial advice based on donor compliance rules.
• Undertaking partner visits to review financial procedures, build capacity, and follow through on implementation of recommendations strengthens the entire partnership.

Procurement Coordination

• You will identify programme procurement needs in consultation with the Programme Manager.
• Preparing supply chain procurement in coordination with the Central Procurement team keeps purchasing efficient and compliant.
• Sourcing quotations and analysing them for review by FSSM ensures value for money.
• Adhering to donor rules, Sightsavers programme procurement for project consumables, and Global Financial Framework and Procurement Policies protects the organisation from risk.

What You Bring to the Role

We are looking for a candidate with the right education, experience, and technical skills. Here is what you need:

Education

• A bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, either completed or currently in progress.

Experience

• Working experience in a similar role, ideally within an INGO environment.
• A background in managing grants or contracts from institutional donors and foundations.
• Experience in financial management, programme and project management, and administration.
• Logistics and procurement experience.
• Experience supporting programme teams and partners with budget preparation and proposals.
• Experience working on SUN and Standard Bank Online platforms or systems.

Technical Skills

• Project financial management and data analysis skills.
• IT skills including Excel, MS Word, an accounting package, and emailing.
• Ability to understand and work with project budgets, forecasts, and reports.
