POSITION: Electrical & Electronic Technician

Maamani Ghana is seeking an Electrical & Electronic Technician to join our facilities team. As an Electrical & Electronic Technician, you will not simply fix faults; you will ensure zero unplanned downtime through proactive maintenance, rapid emergency response, and meticulous system oversight. You will work closely with the Facility Manager, keeping all equipment, automation systems, and utilities at optimal performance. Moreover, you will manage generators, automatic transfer switches, solar systems, and the automated controls that regulate feeding, drinking, ventilation, climate, lighting, and egg collection.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for installing, maintaining, and repairing all electrical systems across poultry houses, feedmill, water systems, and offices. Your focus will span electrical systems management, automation control, preventive maintenance, emergency response, backup power oversight, critical poultry systems, feedmill support, safety compliance, spare parts inventory, and documentation. Your ability to respond rapidly to failures and implement backup solutions will protect ventilation, water supply, and feeding operations during outages.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans electrical management, automation troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, emergency response, power supply oversight, poultry systems, feedmill support, collaboration, safety, inventory, and reporting. Here is what you will tackle:

Electrical Systems Management

• You will install, maintain, and repair all electrical systems across poultry houses (layers and brooding units), feedmill, processing plants, water systems, borehole pumps, offices, and support infrastructure.
• Monitoring and maintaining distribution boards, circuit breakers, protection systems, and wiring ensures stable power to critical operations.

Automation & Control Systems (Core Function)

• You will maintain and troubleshoot automated systems for feeding, drinking, ventilation, climate control (fans and cooling pads), lighting, and egg collection.
• Ensuring control panels, sensors, and actuators function correctly while calibrating automation settings keeps poultry operations running smoothly.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• You will develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, conduct routine inspections to catch faults before failure, and maintain maintenance logs and equipment history.
• Replacing worn or faulty components proactively prevents unexpected breakdowns.

Emergency Response & Downtime Prevention

• You will provide rapid response to electrical and system failures, troubleshooting faults and restoring operations with minimal downtime.
• Implementing backup solutions during outages protects ventilation systems, water supply, and feeding operations.
• Staying available for on call support, especially during critical production periods, demonstrates your commitment.

Power Supply & Backup Systems

• You will manage and maintain generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), and solar systems (if installed).
• Ensuring seamless switching between power sources and regularly testing backup systems guarantees reliability when mains power fails.

Poultry House Critical Systems Oversight

• You will ensure continuous operation of ventilation systems (critical to bird survival), temperature and humidity controls, and lighting programs.
• Monitoring environmental control systems prevents heat stress, oxygen depletion, and system failure that could lead to bird mortality.

Feedmill & Processing Equipment Support

• You will support electrical and automation systems in feedmill machinery and soybean processing equipment.
• Ensuring motors, conveyors, mixers, and control panels operate efficiently keeps production lines moving.

Collaboration with Facility Manager

• You will work closely with the Facility Manager to plan maintenance schedules, coordinate repairs and upgrades, and ensure all infrastructure remains operational.
• Providing technical input on equipment procurement and upgrades improves future reliability.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• You will ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and regulations, maintain safe working practices, and ensure proper grounding, insulation, and system protection.
• Training staff on basic electrical safety awareness builds a culture of caution.

Spare Parts & Inventory Management

• You will maintain inventory of critical spare parts including fuses, relays, sensors, motors, and cables.
• Recommending procurement of essential components prevents delays when failures occur.

Documentation & Reporting

• You will maintain records of maintenance activities, system failures and resolutions, and equipment performance.
• Providing regular reports on system reliability, downtime incidents, and preventive maintenance status keeps management informed.

What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications & Experience

• A Diploma or Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• Five to eight years of experience in industrial electrical systems and automation.
• Experience in poultry farms, feedmills, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
• Strong hands on troubleshooting experience.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills for identifying root causes quickly.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs and control systems (advantage), and industrial automation.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies at any hour.
• High level of attention to detail for catching small faults before they become large failures.
• Strong sense of responsibility and accountability, because bird lives and production targets depend on you.
