Kennedy Agyapong urges NPP to acknowledge economic hardships and apologise to Ghanaians

The vocal Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, has urged the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to openly address Ghana’s current economic challenges as they prepare for the general elections in December.

Agyapong emphasised the significance of confronting the country’s economic issues head-on during his speech at the NPP Ablekuma South Constituency election campaign launch.

“We must first acknowledge the hardships, ask for another chance for the NPP, and demonstrate that we’ve learnt from our past errors,” said Mr. Agyapong. He emphasised that the administration must apologise to Ghanaians without reservation and called for a modest attitude to their campaigning.

“Let’s approach Ghanaians with humility, apologise, and admit our mistakes before asking for their vote. Ignoring the hardships Ghanaians are facing will make it impossible for them to accept our message,” he stated.

Agyapong’s call for an honest and humble campaign resonates with many who feel the need for accountability and transparency from the ruling party. His remarks reflect a strategic shift aimed at reconnecting with the electorate by acknowledging their struggles and seeking forgiveness for any past missteps.

In addition to urging an apology, Ken Agyapong also called on NPP supporters to unite for a resounding victory in the upcoming December 7 polls. He expressed his full support for the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, rallying the party faithful to come together for a common cause.

“We will all support Dr. Bawumia to win,” he added, highlighting the importance of unity and collective effort within the party.

Agyapong’s direct appeal comes at a pivotal moment in the NPP’s struggle to hold onto power amid mounting worries about the state of the economy. His appeal for modesty and an open admission of difficulties establishes the foundation for a campaign aimed at restoring confidence and proving a dedication to meeting Ghanaians’ needs.
