Paris 2024: Ghanaian swimmer Harry Stacey to kick start Olympic campaign for Ghana

Ghanaian swimmer Harry Stacey is set to kick off Ghana’s participation in the Paris 2024 Olympics on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. This event marks his Olympic debut, a significant milestone for both Stacey and Ghana. Currently the highest-ranked male swimmer in Ghana, according to the World Aquatics Point Table, Stacey is eager to showcase his talent on the world stage.

At exactly 11:23 am France time and 9:15 am Ghana time, Stacey will compete in Heat 4 of the swimming event, representing Ghana. His participation not only highlights his personal journey but also sets a precedent for Ghanaian athletes in the Olympics. Fans and supporters from Ghana and around the world will be tuning in to watch Stacey make his mark.

“I’m so excited, and honestly, I can’t wait to get out there; I feel amazing. I just can’t wait to get out there and do my best. I know my place, and I want to try and usurp some people, get faster, and get a personal best if possible. Yeah, I’m just going to go out there and do my best,” Harry Stacey mentioned. 

This moment is not just about Stacey’s individual performance; it represents a significant occasion for Ghana as a whole. His performance will set the tone for the country’s presence at the Games, inspiring fellow athletes and fans. Following Stacey’s debut, Joselle Mensah, Ghana’s second swimmer in this year’s Olympics, will compete in the women’s 50-metre freestyle heat on August 3. Additionally, Rose Yeboah is set to compete in the women’s high jump, and Benjamin Azamati will race in the men’s 100-metre heat on August 2 and August 3, respectively. The diverse representation of Ghanaian athletes across various events promises to make the Paris 2024 Olympics an exciting and memorable experience for Ghana.
