POSITION: English Literature Teacher

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for planning and delivering engaging lessons that cover grammar, composition, and a wide range of literary texts. Your role includes developing lesson plans aligned with specific board standards, preparing and grading assignments and mock examinations, and guiding students through the analysis of themes, literary devices, and historical contexts. Additionally, you will maintain a disciplined, inclusive classroom culture that encourages participation and promotes a passion for reading and writing.

Instructional Delivery

• You will plan and deliver engaging lessons that cover grammar, composition, and diverse literary texts including prose, poetry, and drama.
• Using a variety of teaching methods to reach different learning styles, ensuring every student can access the material.

Curriculum Management

• You will develop lesson plans that align with specific board standards, such as the Ghana Education Service (GES) or international systems like Cambridge Assessment International Education.
• Sequencing content logically across terms, building skills progressively from foundational analysis to advanced critique.

Assessment

• You will prepare, administer, and grade regular assignments, tests, and mock examinations to track student progress.
• Using assessment data to identify struggling students and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Preparing students for national or international certification through targeted exam practice and feedback.

Literary Exploration

• You will foster critical thinking by guiding students through the analysis of themes, literary devices, and historical contexts of various works.
• Encouraging students to connect literature to their own lives, other subjects, and contemporary issues.

Classroom Culture

• You will maintain a disciplined and inclusive environment that encourages participation and promotes a passion for reading and writing.
• Building a classroom where students feel safe to share interpretations, ask questions, and take intellectual risks.

Education & Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, or Education (B.Ed English) is the standard entry requirement.
