POSITION: Centre Locum Midwife
Marie Stopes Ghana is seeking a Centre Locum Midwife to join our team in Kumasi. Your Mission
You will take responsibility for providing comprehensive SRH and non core clinical services in line with approved standards and protocols. Your role includes offering counseling and informed consent, ensuring strict adherence to infection prevention and control, and delivering quality maternal health, family planning, safe abortion, and post abortion care where permitted. Additionally, you will promote cross selling of relevant services, address client concerns, and maintain accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Records system.

Your role spans clinical service delivery, client care, data management, teamwork, and resource support. Here is what you will tackle:
Clinical Service Delivery
- You will provide comprehensive SRH and non core clinical services in line with approved clinical standards and protocols, ensuring every client receives evidence based care.
- Offering counseling, informed consent, and respectful care to all clients, regardless of age, marital status, or background.
- Delivering quality maternal health, family planning, safe abortion, and post abortion care services where permitted by law and your training.
- Promoting cross selling of relevant Marie Stopes Ghana services to clients, helping them access comprehensive care.
Client Care & Engagement
- You will ensure privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respectful treatment for all clients, creating a safe space for sensitive discussions.
- Addressing client concerns and complaints promptly, escalating unresolved issues to the Centre Manager.
- Participating in demand generation, outreach, and health promotion activities to increase service uptake in the community.
- Promoting excellent client experience and client centered care standards throughout every interaction.
Data & Record Management
- You will accurately document client information and service data in the Electronic Health Records system, maintaining a clear audit trail.
- Maintaining accurate service statistics, incident reports, and stock records for internal and regulatory reporting.
- Ensuring timely and accurate reporting of clinical activities and incidents, supporting quality improvement efforts.
- Supporting effective use of the client feedback system to identify areas for service enhancement.
Teamwork & Collaboration
- You will work closely with the Centre Manager and other team members to deliver integrated total women’s healthcare services.
- Supporting onboarding, mentoring, and coaching of junior staff and locums where necessary, sharing your clinical expertise.
- Participating actively in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development activities.
Resource Management Support
- You will ensure rational use of clinical supplies, equipment, and consumables, minimizing waste and controlling costs.
- Promptly reporting stock shortages, damages, or equipment faults to the Centre Manager.
- Supporting inventory management and periodic stock audits, verifying counts against records.
- Lastly, Ensuring compliance with Marie Stopes Ghana safeguarding, financial, data protection, and administrative policies.
What You Bring to the Role
Qualifications & Experience
- A recognized qualification in Midwifery from an accredited institution.
- Full registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana and good standing.
- A minimum of three years of post qualification experience in SRH service delivery or a reputable health facility.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of SRH service delivery, infection prevention, and clinical quality standards.
- Excellent communication, counseling, and interpersonal skills for sensitive client discussions.
- Computer literacy with good documentation and reporting skills, including Electronic Health Records.
