POSITION: Electrical Technician

KUO Fire Safety is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to join our technical team. If you hold a Diploma or NVTI Certificate in Electrical Engineering, bring two to three years of practical experience, and have knowledge of fire alarm systems and emergency lighting, this role offers the opportunity to protect lives and property through reliable electrical safety systems.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for installing, testing, and maintaining fire alarm systems and control panels. Your role includes inspecting and servicing emergency lighting systems and backup power units, troubleshooting electrical faults, and carrying out preventive maintenance on fire detection and suppression systems. Additionally, you will read and interpret electrical and fire system drawings, respond promptly to service calls and emergency breakdowns, and maintain accurate service reports.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, compliance, documentation, and collaboration. Here is what you will tackle:

Installation & Testing

• You will install, test, and maintain fire alarm systems and control panels, ensuring every device communicates correctly.
• Inspecting and servicing emergency lighting systems and backup power units, verifying they activate during power loss.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

• You will troubleshoot electrical faults in fire safety equipment and related systems, identifying root causes quickly.
• Carrying out preventive maintenance on fire detection and suppression systems, catching wear before it causes failure.

Compliance & Drawings

• You will ensure all installations comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements, protecting both clients and your employer.
• Reading and interpreting electrical and fire system drawings and schematics, translating designs into working systems.

Emergency Response & Documentation

• You will respond promptly to service calls and emergency breakdowns, arriving ready to diagnose and repair.
• Maintaining accurate service reports and documentation, creating records for future maintenance and compliance audits.

Collaboration

• You will work closely with engineers and safety officers on project installations, coordinating tasks and sharing information.

What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications & Experience

• A Diploma or NVTI Certificate in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of two to three years of practical experience in electrical or fire safety systems.
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems, control panels, and emergency lighting systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits and systems, using multimeters and other diagnostic tools.
