POSITION: Senior Cook

Royal Elmount Hotel is seeking a Senior Cook to join our kitchen team. Your Mission

You will take responsibility for preparing a wide variety of meals according to set menus and guest preferences. Your role includes assisting the Chef in food planning and kitchen coordination, monitoring food preparation for consistency in taste, quality, and presentation, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area. Additionally, you will supervise and support junior cooks and kitchen assistants during shifts, ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, take inventory of food supplies, report shortages or equipment issues, and step in for the Chef when required.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans meal preparation, kitchen coordination, quality control, supervision, safety compliance, inventory management, and leadership backup. Here is what you will tackle:

Meal Preparation

• You will prepare a wide variety of meals in accordance with set menus and guest preferences, adapting to dietary requests when possible.
• Cooking Ghanaian and international dishes with consistent taste, quality, and presentation.

Kitchen Coordination

• You will assist the Chef in food planning, menu execution, and overall kitchen coordination, keeping service running smoothly.
• Monitoring food preparation at every station, ensuring no plate leaves the kitchen below standard.

Supervision & Support

• You will supervise and support junior cooks and kitchen assistants during busy shifts, assigning tasks and offering guidance.
• Training new kitchen staff on recipes, portion sizes, and plating standards.

Safety & Cleanliness

• You will maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, following all food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Ensuring proper storage of ingredients, labeling of containers, and cleaning of equipment after each use.

Inventory & Reporting

• You will take inventory of food supplies, reporting shortages or equipment issues to the Chef or management.
• Helping to order supplies before shortages disrupt service.

Leadership Backup

• You will step in for the Chef when required, managing the kitchen in their absence.

What You Bring to the Role

Experience & Knowledge

• A minimum of three years of experience in a similar role within a hotel or reputable restaurant.
• Strong knowledge of Ghanaian and international cuisines, including cooking techniques and flavor profiles.
• Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions from the Chef and management.

Skills & Personal Attributes

• Strong cooking skills: You prepare dishes efficiently without sacrificing quality or presentation.
• Attention to detail: You notice when a sauce is too thin, a garnish is missing, or a plate is not clean.
• Commitment to quality: You refuse to send out substandard food, even when under pressure.
• Good communication: You coordinate with servers, the Chef, and junior cooks clearly and respectfully.
• Time management: You prioritize tasks during busy service, ensuring all dishes leave the kitchen on time.
• Flexibility: You work weekends, public holidays, and flexible shifts as hotel operations require.

Working Hours

• Full time employment with flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

• Accommodation provided, making this role accessible to candidates from outside the immediate area.
