POSITION: Business Development Officer

THESA Health Ghana Limited is seeking a Business Development Officer to join our team at the inception of a new company serving Ghana and Africa. If you possess strong research, sales, and negotiation skills, a good understanding of Ghana’s health sector stakeholders, and the ability to work independently, this role offers a rare opportunity to help build a health company from the ground up, combining field and office work.

THESA Health Ghana Limited is a subsidiary of THESA Health Partners, focused on enhancing the resilience of Africa’s health systems. With our planned launch in Ghana, we aim to market and distribute medical consumables and equipment, establish facilities for specialized medical services, and establish a plant for local manufacturing of key medical consumables and vaccines. As a Business Development Officer, you will not simply sell; you will identify suppliers in Asia and Europe, pursue partnerships, respond to tenders, conduct market research, analyze competitors, and represent the company at industry events. Your work will directly shape the growth of a new company in Ghana’s health sector.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for identifying suppliers of medical consumables and equipment in Asia and Europe for marketing and distribution deals in Ghana and West Africa. Your role includes identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing strategies and proposals, responding to tenders and bids, representing the company at industry events, building strong client and supplier relationships, conducting market research, analyzing competitors and pricing strategies, and providing strategic insights.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans deal origination, client relationship management, and market research. Here is what you will tackle:

Deal Origination & Business Development

  • You will identify suppliers of medical consumables and equipment in Asia and Europe for marketing and distribution deals in Ghana and West Africa.
  • Then, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in medical consumables and equipment supply.
  • Also, developing and implementing strategies, offers, tenders, and proposals to grow the company’s client base.
  • Moreover, identifying and responding to relevant tenders and bids with other team members.
  • Furthermore, representing the company at industry events, meetings, stakeholder engagements, and exhibitions.

Client Relationship Management

  • You will build and maintain strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
  • Then, ensuring customer satisfaction, retention, and addressing complaints and feedback.

Market Research & Intelligence

  • You will conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Analyzing competitors and pricing strategies.
  • Lastly, providing insights to support strategic decision making.

What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Public Health, or a related field that equips you for the work described.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in business development or sales.
  • Previous experience working within the health sector will be highly valued.
  • A good understanding or network of stakeholders and actors in Ghana’s health sector.
