POSITION: Development Finance Associate
UNOPS is seeking a Development Finance Associate to provide technical and administrative support to the Smart SDG Cities Programme and UN Habitat’s work in Ghana. If you are ready to work under the guidance of the Head of Office and direct supervision of the Urban Planning and Resilience Specialist, this role offers the opportunity to help achieve maximum impact for sustainable urban development.

UNOPS East and Southern Africa
Based in Nairobi, UNOPS East and Southern Africa supports sustainable development across 14 countries including Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Somalia, Tanzania, Zambia, Zanzibar, and Zimbabwe. Since 1995, UNOPS has expanded its footprint in Kenya, delivering services in project management, infrastructure, procurement, and financial management. Across the region, the office implements diverse, partner funded initiatives that respond to national priorities.
Under the overall guidance of the Head of Office and direct supervision of the Urban Planning and Resilience Specialist, you will provide technical and administrative support to the Smart SDG Cities Programme and UN Habitat’s work in Ghana. Your focus will include innovative financing strategies and resource mobilization for sustainable urban development. You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders, contribute to high impact projects, and gain professional development within the UN system.
Key Responsibilities
Your role spans technical support, administrative coordination, stakeholder engagement, and resource mobilization. Here is what you will tackle:
Technical Support
- You will provide technical support to the Smart SDG Cities Programme and UN Habitat’s work in Ghana.
- Assisting in the development of innovative financing strategies for urban development.
Administrative Coordination
- You will provide administrative support to ensure smooth programme implementation.
- Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement
- You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders including government agencies, development partners, and community organizations.
- Building relationships that advance sustainable urban development.
Resource Mobilization
- You will contribute to resource mobilization efforts, identifying funding opportunities and supporting proposal development.
- Assisting in the preparation of financing strategies for urban projects.
What You Bring to the Role
Education & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, development studies, urban planning, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in development finance, resource mobilization, or project support.
- Familiarity with the UN system and sustainable development goals is an advantage.
