POSITION: Driver/Logistics Assistant

ActionAid Ghana is seeking a Driver/Logistics Assistant for our Climate Adaptation Project based in Anloga, Volta Region. If you are self motivated, reliable, and ready to support project implementation through timely delivery and minor administrative tasks, this one year renewable role offers the opportunity to contribute to gender equality, youth empowerment, and climate resilience in marginalized communities.

As a Driver/Logistics Assistant, you will not simply drive; you will support the Climate Adaptation Project through safe transportation, document delivery, field logistics, meeting preparations, and minor administrative tasks.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for providing safe and reliable transportation for project staff and guests. Your role includes timely delivery and collection of official documents, materials, and equipment required for smooth project implementation. Additionally, you will support meeting preparations, field logistics, and minor administrative tasks to contribute to effective project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans transportation, document delivery, logistics support, meeting preparation, and administration. Here is what you will tackle:

Transportation

• You will provide safe and reliable transportation for project staff and guests, following all traffic laws and safety procedures.
• Maintaining the project vehicle in clean, roadworthy condition.

Document Delivery

• You will deliver and collect official documents, materials, and equipment on time.
• Ensuring items reach their destination without damage or delay.

Logistics Support

• You will support field logistics, helping to move equipment and supplies to project sites.
• Assisting with loading and unloading as needed.

Meeting Preparation

• You will support meeting preparations, arranging venues, setting up equipment, and ensuring materials are ready.
• Helping to coordinate transportation for meeting participants.

Administrative Tasks

• You will perform minor administrative tasks as needed, such as filing, photocopying, or record keeping.
• Completing vehicle logs and maintenance reports.

What You Bring to the Role

Academic Qualification & Experience

• WASSCE or equivalent certificate.
• At least two years of experience as a professional driver, demonstrating your reliability and safety record.

Skills & Personal Attributes

• A valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type.
• Knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving techniques.
• Ability to navigate the Volta region, especially Anloga and surrounding areas.
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge, including checking oil, water, tires, and brakes.
• Good communication skills for interacting with project staff, guests, and community members.
• Physical fitness to assist with loading and unloading supplies.
• Reliable: You arrive on time and complete assignments without constant supervision.
• Safety conscious: You never speed or take risks, even when schedules are tight.
• Organized: You maintain vehicle logs, delivery records, and maintenance schedules.
• Proactive: You identify vehicle issues before they cause breakdowns.
• Respectful: You treat project staff, guests, and community members with courtesy.

Job Circumstances

• Salary: This role sits on NM2 of ActionAid Ghana’s Salary Structure.
• Duration: One year with possibility of renewal by an additional 18 months, contingent on funding availability and satisfactory performance.
• Location: Anloga, Volta Region.
