Korle Bu Teaching Hospital stands as Ghana’s premier tertiary healthcare institution. Thousands of lives depend on its services every single day. Behind every successful patient outcome lies a complex financial engine. That engine needs a new leader. Consequently, we seek a highly qualified, experienced, and results driven professional to step into the role of Director, Finance.

Your Core Purpose

You will provide leadership, technical direction, and administrative oversight for the hospital’s entire finance function. Every financial decision, every budget allocation, and every compliance check will flow through your team. Therefore, you must bring both strategic vision and hands on management ability.

What You Will Do

The successful candidate will take on these critical responsibilities:

• Shape financial policies. Provide key inputs as the hospital forms its financial rules and guidelines. Your expertise will influence how money moves across the institution.
• Lead financial programmes. Drive implementation, monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes. Adjust strategies when results fall short.
• Manage resources wisely. Oversee financial, human, and material assets. Maximize every cedi for patient care and operational excellence.
• Mobilize funds aggressively. Support the hospital’s strategic objectives by bringing in financial resources. Pursue grants, partnerships, and innovative funding mechanisms.
• Own the budget process. Prepare, consolidate, and submit annual budgets on time. Deliver periodic financial reports without delays.
• Analyze financial statements. Ensure accurate interpretation and clear reporting. Management must understand the numbers quickly.
• Enforce compliance. Follow all financial management laws, fiscal policies, and accounting standards including IPSAS. No exceptions.
• Control receipts and disbursements. Oversee every incoming payment and outgoing expense. Follow approved procedures strictly.
• Advise leadership. Guide management on financial governance, risk management, and compliance matters. Flag problems before they escalate.
• Drive performance management. Implement a robust performance system within the Finance Directorate. Hold your team accountable.
• Collaborate externally. Maintain strong working relationships with ministries, departments, agencies, and other stakeholders on financial issues.

What You Must Bring

• Education: A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline from an accredited tertiary institution.
• Professional Certification: You must hold a chartered membership from a recognized body such as ICAG, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA.
• Experience: At least ten years of post bachelor’s relevant work experience. Within that, a minimum of five years in a senior management position at a reputable institution.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong command of public financial management systems and regulatory frameworks.
• Age Limit: You must not exceed 55 years at the time of appointment.
