Underground Mining Alliance Akyem (UMAA) operates as a powerful Joint Venture between African Underground Mining Services Limited (AUMS) and Rocksure International. Together, we carry out underground development and production work for the AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine. This is not a surface level operation. You will go deep underground, work with heavy machinery, and keep critical electrical systems running safely.

Your Reporting Line

You will report directly to the Electrical Foreman. Your number one priority? Keep yourself and your co workers safe. Beyond that, you will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all electrical systems and equipment found underground. Strong compliance matters greatly. Everyone including employees and subcontractors must work safely and efficiently.

Your Daily Responsibilities

• Supervise daily maintenance activities. Assign tasks to fitters and apprentices. Keep everyone productive.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance. Handle motors, controls, process controls, and instrumentation. Disassemble worn parts. Replace broken components. Realign equipment.
• Operate process calibrators and controllers. Configure, program, calibrate, and start up plant instrumentation and control systems.
• Inspect electrical equipment regularly. Check electronic systems and telemetry gear for proper operation. Then recommend upgrades where needed.
• Program, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment. Move quickly when systems fail.
• Carry out scheduled electrical servicing. Follow manufacturer specifications, the Electrical Code, plus company and client safety protocols.
• Organize job resources. Identify needed tools, equipment, and additional personnel before each task begins. Boost productivity through smart planning.
• Complete service sheets thoroughly. Document every repair performed on each task.
• Diagnose potential failures early. Anticipate problems and provide solutions before breakdowns occur.
• Read and interpret service manuals. Find answers in spare parts documentation.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards. Keep the shop and all job sites clean and organized.
• Share your knowledge. Learn new methods and teach your skills to co workers willingly.

What You Must Bring

Education and Experience
You need one of these two paths:

• BSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from a recognized university plus a minimum of 5 years working in a Hard Rock Underground Mine.
• Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering plus a minimum of 10 years working in a Hard Rock Underground Mine.

Licenses and Certifications
Hold a valid Ghanaian driving and operating license (C & E Classes). You must drive a manual SUV underground.

Legal Knowledge
Stay conversant with the Mining Act and related regulations of the Republic of Ghana.
