POSITION: Professor — Business School

Ghana Communication Technology University is seeking a Professor to join our Business School in Tesano, Accra. If you have a minimum of three years of experience as an Associate Professor and at least fifteen publications in recognized journals, this role offers the opportunity to teach, supervise research, engage in community service, and foster faculty development at a technology oriented public university.

Formerly Ghana Technology University College, GCTU is now a full fledged public university with a mandate to provide higher education in Information and Communication Technology. As a Professor, you will not simply deliver lectures; you will shape curriculum, mentor junior faculty, supervise graduate students, publish research, and contribute to the university’s strategic direction.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in your department. Your role includes supervising student theses and dissertations, conducting research that advances your field, publishing in recognized journals, providing community service, and mentoring junior faculty. As a Professor, you will also contribute to curriculum development, academic advising, and university governance.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans teaching, supervision, research, community service, and faculty development. Here is what you will tackle:

Teaching

• You will deliver lectures, lead seminars, and facilitate discussions in your area of specialization.
• Developing course materials and assessments that challenge students to think critically.

Supervision

• You will supervise undergraduate and graduate student theses and dissertations.
• Guiding students through research design, data collection, analysis, and writing.

Research

• You will conduct original research and publish findings in recognized journals.
• Presenting at conferences and contributing to your field’s knowledge base.

Community Service

• You will engage in community service, applying your expertise to benefit society.
• Serving on university committees and participating in outreach activities.

Faculty Development

• You will mentor junior faculty, helping them develop teaching and research skills.
• Contributing to a collegial, supportive academic environment.

What You Bring to the Role

Education

• A Ph.D. in the relevant area of specialization.

Experience (Pathway 1)

• Appointment as a Professor by a recognized university with comparable conditions for appointment and promotion as those of GCTU.
• A minimum of three years of experience as an Associate Professor.
• A minimum of fifteen publications in recognized journals.

Experience (Pathway 2)

• An Associate Professor seeking appointment to the rank of Professor will first receive appointment as an Associate Professor to undergo the University’s promotion process.
